# Use the Classroom Switcher and create classrooms

If you have access to more than one classroom, you can move between them from the **Classroom Switcher** in the left sidebar.

## Switch to another classroom

1. Click your current **classroom name** in the upper-left area of the sidebar.
2. Review the list of classrooms you can access.
3. Select the classroom you want to open.

QuizRise opens the selected classroom immediately. You will see the students, teachers, learning materials, and settings that belong to that classroom.

## What to know before switching classrooms

- Each classroom is completely independent.
- Quizzes, flashcards, study materials, students, teachers, and invitations are not automatically shared or copied between classrooms.
- A user must be invited to each classroom separately.
- You can have a different role in different classrooms. For example, you can be an **Owner** in one classroom and a **Teacher** or **Student** in another.
- Your selected classroom stays active until you switch to another one.

The Classroom Switcher lets you manage multiple courses, classes, programs, or student groups from one QuizRise account.

## Create a new classroom

You can create a new classroom when you want to manage a different course, class, or student group separately.

1. Click your current **classroom name** in the upper-left area of the sidebar.
2. Select **Create classroom**.
3. Enter the classroom name in the **Classroom name** field.
4. Click **Create**.

When creation succeeds, the new classroom is ready to use and can be selected from the Classroom Switcher.

## Who can create a classroom?

Only the owner of the current organization can create another classroom in that organization. QuizRise checks that you are the **Owner** of the active classroom and that the active classroom belongs to your own organization.

If you were invited to another classroom as a **Teacher** or **Student**, you cannot create a new classroom inside that classroom's organization.

Plan classroom limits can also prevent new classroom creation. If the organization has reached its classroom limit, upgrade before adding another classroom.

When you create a classroom:

- You become the classroom **Owner**.
- You can manage materials in that classroom.
- Teacher owners can invite teachers and students.
- Organization owners can update classroom and organization names.

## Are existing materials copied to a new classroom?

No. Every new classroom starts empty.

Teachers, students, invitations, quizzes, flashcards, study materials, and folders from your existing classrooms are not copied automatically.

To start using the new classroom, create or share the materials inside that classroom. If your account can manage members in that classroom, you can also [invite the teachers and students you need](/help/en/invite-students-and-teachers-to-a-classroom).
